Central Coast Fun

Yesterday we made the 2.5 hour trip from YLP to Templeton. We had lunch with the White Heads at Ocean Harvest, YUMMM. We then drove to Morro Bay to enjoy the California Coast. After coming back to Templeton we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Luci and Joe's. Everyone was here, Luci, Joe, Lila, Jessie, Claudia, Sierra, Steve, Patt, Tasha, Emma, and me. Luci made a lovely dinner. Today we head to Hoover's Beef Palace for a lovely breakfast/lunch and then it is back to YLP. On the way we will make a stop in Fresno. The trip is lovely so far.

Update

Yesterday was a relaxing day. We lounged around and recovered from our travels. Today we head to Yosemite. Tomorrow we are going to Atascadero to see the great grandparents at their usual lunch joint, Ocean Harvest. Then we are having dinner at Luci's with the rest of the family. We will stay the night and head back to YLP on Thursday. I hope to post pictures very soon.

We are here safe

We took two days to travel down here. We drove and stayed the night in Red Bluff, CA which is just south of Redding. We had a lovely evening at the Comfort Inn. We ordered Applebees to be delivered and bought some beers. It was 114 in Red Bluff!!! Gross!!!!!!!!!! The next day we drove the rest of the way to Yosemite Lakes Park. We were greeted by Claudia, Joe, Luci, and Sierra. We a nice evening and look forward to the rest of the trip.

Emma traveled famously. She slept a lot but when she was awake she enjoyed the scenery out the side window and enjoyed her Aunt Jessie. When she did get fussy because she was hungry we were able to pull off at the next rest stop and take care of her. She is a great traveler.

Getting ready for the big trip

Not much is new. We are getting ready for our first big trip since Emma was born, we leave bright and early on Saturday (Jessie's earliest time she will leave is 7am). It will be a 13 hour drive down to lovely Coarsegold, CA. We usually do this drive in one day but with Emma we will likely have to do it in 2 days. My hope is we make it to somewhere between Weed and Redding to stay the night and then go the rest of the way on Sunday. It will be nice having three of us in the car so that someone can entertain Emma if she gets fussy.

We can't wait to see everyone and also for everyone to get to meet Ms. Emma...we fear we may not get to hold her once we arrive!

New picture from today

A note from Jessie

I finally got Jr to allow other family members (me) to participate in our blog. Previously, Big Jr was monopolizing it, deciding what we wanted to share and choosing how we, as a family, want to be portrayed. Well, I must say that he nailed it. If you have visited the site regularly, you will see that we are pretty focused on our little Emma. She is a beautiful mix of Jr and Tasha (she might have my ears) and I just can't tell you how wonderful it is to be an Aunt--finally.

We are going on a family road trip next week to California and I am thrilled to be able to spend the time with Jr, Tasha and Emma and the Sweet clan. I am very sorry for Jo, who will be at home having separation anxiety. I promise we will call everyday, Jo.

I look forward to keeping everyone posted from time to time. Can't wait to see you Sweets!

All my love,
Aunt Jessie

She is HUGE

Emma went in for her 2 month check-up today and the doctor confirmed what many have thought, SHE IS HUGE!! She weighed in at 13 lbs/5 ounces which puts her into the 97th percentile, she measured in at 24.5 inches which puts her beyond the 100th percentile, and her head measured 41 cm which is in the 95th percentile. She got her mom's height, her dad's weight, and both have huge heads so she benefited from both.

The doctor also commented on how much she moves around saying that most 2 month olds he sees don't move around nearly as much as she. He also complimented her on her sleep schedule. Basically what I am trying to say is she is perfect.

She did get 4 shots and was not happy about that but she calmed down the minute I (Jr) picked her up.

SHE IS HUGE....and VERY CUTE.

Impersonation = Flattery?

Emma has become quite the impersonator lately. She loves to look at you and tries to make noises when you make noises. If only someone would record one of these exchanges, because then they would have proof that you are crazy!

Emma after her bath

I am sure she won't be happy to know that this photo was posted for all of the world to see but you get to see the comedy that is "Emma After Bath". Posted by Picasa

2 Seconds of Fame

Jr didn't get as much camera time as last year but he got more face time and spared everyone his back side. He got about 2 seconds with a big portion of that at the very beginning as he led the graduates onto the floor. As if he had movie experience before, he turned to the camera, gave a big smile, and waved. All that was missing was the "Hi Mom". Oh well, better luck next year.

Jr on TV????

This Saturday (the 17th) Portland State is graduating its largest class ever and the ceremony is being broadcast live on TV. I will be on the floor trying to heard the students onto the floor of the Rose Garden (where the Blazers play) and getting them into their seats. Two years ago I got lots of good air time, mostly my back side, but hey, I can't beg!!!!!

One of my favorite pictures of Emma

She is such a ham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted by Picasa

Tasha's b-day

Today was Tasha's 32nd birthday. She and Emma came and visited with me at work and we had a lovely lunch together. This is of course, after we showed off Emma to all of my co-workers again.

We then had a great dinner at a great italian place here in town with Tasha's mom, Jessie, and Wayne. The food was great, the drinks went down, and of course, the tiramisu was fabulous.

Nice Afro

Emma seems to enjoy her baths. However, the aftermath generally
provides Tasha and I a wonderful opportunity to laugh as we enjoy her crazy hair!

Emma turned 8 weeks today and will go in for her big 2 month check-up this coming Tuesday (the 20th). We are anxious to see what the doctor has to say. We also can't wait to see how long Emma is and how much she weighs. She seems to be HUGE for her age compared to other babies we see out and about. We will keep you posted when we know more.
