Results of Emma's first day at "school"

Emma's first day in "school" yesterday was a success. She didn't nap well but other than that she did very good. Other than just being a little kid, she got to "sing and dance" with the class as part of the afternoon activities.

The funny thing about the napping is that because of her advanced state she is in an advanced group. They don't sleep in cribs but on cots! So, yesterday was Emma's first attempt to sleep in a cot.

Emma in day care

Emma began day care today. I dropped her off bright and early this morning (6:30am). She seemed to be doing great when I left. She seemed to like the teachers and got right to eating. It was VERY difficult for me to leave her there. But I had to......

Particularly cute is the fact that today is picture day so we might have some new pictures of Emma and how appropriate it was on her first day.

Kicking butts and taking names

It is early in the process but my staff is kicking butt for the upcoming fall class!! In working with a consulting firm called Noel Levitz, we set some very high goals for this fall. We are up 80% in applications and 65% in admits versus this time last year. The really impressive thing about this, is that last year was a huge year for PNCA and we are blowing those numbers off the hinges.

The two incredible stats are we have already bypassed total year applications for all other falls in the history of PNCA except for last year. And, we have met the freshman application goal for the year already.

I am sure this is boring for all non-admissions types but I want to stand on a mountain top and scream "WATCH OUT FOR PNCA, WE ARE KICKING BUTTS AND TAKING NAMES". Of course I don't think anyone would be afraid of a bunch of artists running at them holding paint brushes..........

Researching a new family web site

Just to let you know that I am researching possible new family web sites services to replace this blog.

This blog is free and has served its purpose. However, I would like to do more with it. There are some great services out there that allow much of the same things this blog has but also has calendars, polls, recipe exchanges, live chat rooms, etc.

When I know more I will let you know......

Cute Emma in the car

This is a very cute picture of Emma in the car during the blizzard on the way to the airport.

Blizzard in Chicago, flight canceled, lots of luggage

Well, the morning we were to leave Chicago and fly back to Portland a blizzard decided to hit Chicago and Indiana (pictured). It looked like we were going to get out but once we arrived at the airport and waited in line for more than an hour we were told the flight wouldn't make it.
The best part is we had a boat load of luggage (pictured and mostly Emma's), had to wait forever for a taxi, and spend more than $200 a night for a hotel.

Ed Debevics in Chicago

At one of my favorite food spots in Chicago, Ed Debevics. It is a great little 60's diner. Emma of course was a hit with everyone there.

Going to Chicago and Emma Starting Day Care

We are flying to Chicago this Friday. Should be interesting as it will be our first time flying with Emma. Lets hope it goes well.

Emma will start going to day care on Feb. 19th. She will go two days a week. It will be good for her to interact with other kids.

Emma LOVES to read

Outside of eating there isn't anything that Emma enjoys more.
